This Thursday, the IFA (Israel Football Federation) announced the signing of a new agreement with CONMEBOL. The Israelis said to themselves “proud to join the magnificent CONMEBOL family”, the confederation responsible for organizing major South American tournaments. And the president of the IFA, Moshe Zuares, has also affirmed his desire to participate in future Copa America.
“This is a particularly exciting, historic moment and an international breakthrough for the IFA. I really hope that the Israeli national team will be part of one of the major tournaments organized by CONMEBOL, maybe even the Copa America” he confirmed when signing the agreement. Until now affiliated with UEFA (since 1994), the country of the Levant has never managed to qualify for the final stages of the Euro.
